The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reacted to rumours about content creator Mr Michael Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Teacher Kwadwo, being reinstated into the service.

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, rumours surfaced on social media that the famous YouTuber, who has been out of the spotlight in recent years, had been allowed to return to his teaching profession, four years after his dismissal in 2021.

In a statement shared on Facebook, the Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service, Daniel Fenyi, dismissed the reports of Teacher Kwadwo's reinstatement as false.

The service also directed the comedian to submit a formal petition in writing for due consideration to contest his dismissal.

The statement from the Ghana Education Service (GES) read:

"The attention of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has been drawn to reports circulating in sections of the media suggesting that Mr. Michael Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Teacher Kwadwo, has been reinstated into the Service."
"The Ghana Education Service wishes to state that the report is false. Mr. Owusu Afriyie has not been reinstated. However, if Mr. Owusu Afriyie believes that his dismissal, which happened in 2021, is contestable, he is encouraged to submit a formal petition in writing for due consideration."
"The public is hereby advised to disregard the false reports. Thank you. Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations, GES."

In December 2021, Teacher Kwadwo, who had gained prominence for his exploits as a comedian and a YouTuber, was dismissed from his teaching job by the Ghana Education Service.

In a letter sent to the content creator, the service noted that they had decided to dismiss him from teaching in the public sector over alleged misconduct.

The YouTuber had been a big critic of the Ghana Education Service, and on many occasions, exposed some of the alleged rot in the education system.

In response to his dismissal, Teacher Kwadwo threatened to fight against the perceived injustice from the Ghana Education Service by taking the case to court.

However, after several days, he shared that he was no longer interested in being in the teaching field and announced his decision to return to YouTube on a full-time basis.

For several months, Teacher Kwadwo has been inactive on social media, with his current whereabouts unknown.

Teacher Kwadwo's associate speaks on his absence

In another story reported by YEN.com.gh, Teacher Kwadwo's associate spoke about the content creator's absence from social media.

In a video, Sergio Manucho dismissed rumours of the YouTuber being outside the country and called on Ghanaians to pray for him.
