In an interview with Derrick K. Abaitey on Konnected Minds, Kennedy Agyapong said an entrepreneur must first be passionate about the business they're starting.
The first two businesses Kennedy Agyapong mentioned are selling building materials and real estate.
“If you study the market in Ghana, you’d see that everybody who gets money wants to build a house. So, building materials. Whether you’re selling paint, brushes, cement, iron rods, plumbing equipment, and the like.”

In the real estate sector, Kennedy Agyapong shared aspects of the business that are profitable.
“Selling it is good, but renting it is not. You don’t make money from rent. Those who are buying or building to sell will make money, but those buying to rent will not make money.”

He explained further that he has over 277 houses in Ghana, but does not make much money from them. However, he is keeping them because he wants to give them to his children.
Kennedy Agyapong indicated that every other business can be done depending on the entrepreneur's interest.
"It depends on what you also want to do. Some businesses come with interest; if you don't have the interest, you may not be able to do it well."
Kennedy Agyapong explains his source of wealth
Kennedy Agyapong, in a 2020 interview, opened up about the source of his wealth and financial breakthrough.
In the interview with Citi TV, the presidential hopeful disclosed that he made his financial breakthrough through the U.S. amnesty program and the U.S. visa lottery, introduced by Ronald Reagan under the immigration amnesty programme.
He explained that, together with his boss at the time, Kwadwo Afram Asiedu, they processed 2,500 applications at $2,500 each for interested Ghanaians wishing to travel to the U.S.
Kennedy Agyapong stated that by the end of the program that year, he had made over $1 million, including his savings.
“In 1989, Ronald Reagan had introduced an amnesty program, so I was fortunate to work with a lawyer called Kwadwo Afram Asiedu. That is where I made the money. We processed about 2,500 applications, and everybody paid $2,500.
I did all the documentation, and my boss, because he is a lawyer, would go and present the documents at the immigration office. Out of the $2,500, my boss would get $700, and I would get the rest and use some for the documentation,” he said.
The list of companies he owns includes Platinum Plastics Limited, Oman FM, Ashh FM and Net 2 TV, among others
