The final funeral rites for the late Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, will be held today, Sunday, August 24, 2025.

The family and other relations will gather at the Astro Turf Park in Damongo, beginning at 9:00 AM, for the final funeral rites.

The announcement was conveyed in an invitation by the King and Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Area, Yagbonwura Bi-kunuto Jewu Soale I, on behalf of the Gonja Traditional Council, his chiefs, and subjects.

Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru passed away in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

He was one of eight victims of the crash who perished in the tragedy.

The helicopter, which was carrying high-profile government officials, was en route to Obuasi when it went down. Among those on board were the Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; the NDC Vice Chairman, Samuel Sarpong; and the former parliamentary candidate, Samuel Aboagye. The crew, also lost in the accident, included Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The final funeral rite is expected to draw several government officials, top political leaders, grassroots members, traditional leaders, diplomats, and numerous indigenes and mourners to the regional capital of the Savannah region.
