Ralph St. Williams, a political activist, has reacted to calls by a section of Ghanaians for his arrest following his recent altercation with some workers at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, also known as Ridge Hospital.
In a video sighted by YEN.com.gh on the Facebook page of the activist on August 21, he stated that the decision to speak on his hospital experience was part of efforts aimed at driving change in healthcare delivery in the country.

He mentioned that, throughout this ordeal, his parents have been particularly affected by the reactions from Ghanaians regarding the matter
St Williams shared a conversation he had with his mother, where he opened up about the advice she gave him, urging him to step back from his activism, especially if he wasn’t being appreciated.
He then turned his attention to the persons calling for his arrest, wanting to find out what would happen if it became evidently clear that the claims made against him were a total fabrication.

Ralph reacts to Ridge Hospital CCTV footage
The firebrand activist in another video also responded to the newly released CCTV footage from Ridge Hospital over allegations of assaulting some nurses.
Offering clarity on a moment where he was seen approaching one of the nurses, Ralph explained that his intention was not to hit them, and at no point did he do that.

Rather, he explained that he wanted to get closer to the nurse since he was recording whatever was happening, just in case something untoward occurred.

Social media users who took to the comments section of the video shared varied opinions, generating reactions online.

"They are playing politics with everything… The health sector is a very sensitive place… We should frown upon this behavior from some nurses in our hospitals."

Health minister defends handshake with Ralph
Earlier, YEN.com.gh also reported that the Minister of Health had defended his decision to exchange pleasantries with Ralph St. Williams after the Ridge Hospital incident.
Addressing the press, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh said the cordial moment where he shook hands with the activist was not an endorsement of the drama he had caused.
