An alleged third suspect in the murder of Immigration officer Stephen King Amoah has reportedly passed away after a short battle with illness.

The brother of the late Immigration officer, Kwesi Amoako, confirmed the news of the alleged suspect's demise in an interview with Citi News on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

The late Stephen Amoah King's brother stated that he received the news from an officer in the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) who is in charge of the murder case.

He said:

"Yesterday (Friday, August 21), we went to court, and I can confirm that the third suspect has passed away. The Police CID officer in charge of the case told me. We thank God that our brother has started seeking justice for himself."

Second suspect arrested in Stephen Amoah's case

The new development comes days after a second suspect, Thomas Zigah, aka Nii Jaase, was arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah.

The alleged second suspect and the main suspect, Bright Aweh, were brought before a judge at the Adabraka District Court on Friday, August 22, 2025, to face the law for their alleged crime.

The two men faced a hostile reception from the late Stephen King Amoah's family and friends and needed heavy protection from the police personnel who escorted them in and out of the court premises.

Stephen King Amoah's murder and Bright's arrest

Stephen King Amoah was reported missing for days after he left his residence on July 3, 2025, to meet Bright Aweh at Aggie’s Spot in Ashongman Estate to reclaim an amount of GH¢200,000 he had paid to him to secure employment opportunities for some individuals.

Stephen King Amoah's remains were later transported to the Police Hospital morgue, with the police subsequently beginning investigations into his demise.

On July 10, 2025, the Ghana Police Service announced that they had apprehended Bright Aweh, who had a close relationship with the deceased, as the main suspect in the murder case.

According to the police statement, the suspect shared inconsistent information during an interrogation with the police.

During a press conference, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department, also shared that they had discovered the alleged murder weapon used by Bright Aweh to commit the crime.

The main suspect has since made multiple court appearances while he remains in police custody.

Stephen's brother-in-law wants punishment for Bright Aweh

In an earlier story reported by YEN.com.gh, Stephen King Amoah's brother-in-law called for a strong punishment for Bright Aweh during his day in court.

In an interview, he called for the murder suspect to be handed a life imprisonment sentence if he is found guilty of committing the alleged crime.

Stephen King Amoah's brother-in-law also warned that he and his family would take drastic action if justice was not served in the court.
