Roey Gilad, the Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, has made a selection of jollof rice amid the constant cuisine battle between Ghana and Nigeria.

In a recent episode of Up Close with H.E. Roey Gilad, on Channel 1 TV, the Israeli Ambassador, while speaking with the show's hosts, shared his appreciation for Ghanaian cuisine.

The interview was intended to give a glimpse into the ambassador's personal experiences and his efforts to strengthen bilateral relations through cultural exchange.

During the conversation, Ambassador Gilad disclosed his fondness for Ghanaian food, stating that the cuisine was quite similar to that in his home country, Israel, remarking:

"I eat a lot of Jollof, and no doubt, Ghanaian jollof is my favourite."

His comment came in response to a question about his feeding habits over the past year in Ghana.

According to him, he prefers Ghanaian jollof compared to the Nigerian version, resulting in light-hearted banter from the hosts.

Speaking further, he also gave his comments about the quality of restaurants in the country, particularly in Accra, noting:

“I think you have very good restaurants in Ghana; all over actually in Accra and all over Ghana.”

This acknowledgement highlights his positive experiences with the local food scene and his engagement with Ghanaian culture during his stay.

Ambassador Gilad, who arrived to begin his duty in August 2025, brings over 30 years of diplomatic experience to his role.

He is on a mission to deepen the ties between Israel and Ghana at governmental, business, and people-to-people levels.

In a video, she shared the background story of why she wanted to embark on a project of such magnitude, despite being a record holder.

The renowned chef noted that the cooking event will take place on September 12, 2025, in collaboration with popular seasoning and culinary brand Gino.

Many people applauded her, while others admired her determination to break another record in the Guinness World Record books.

Nigeria beats Ghana in jollof rice challenge

The event was held in Accra, with Jacinta and Foster Romanus as the MCs as Judith Oluwafunmilola took the top prize.
