Jonas Alevi Agbagba, Assembly member for the Amefinu Electoral Area, confirmed the incident to YEN.com.gh in an interview.

Ketu South drowning: aftermath of the tragedy
Upon arrival at the scene, the assembly member observed that the body was still ‘fresh’, prompting immediate action to transport Gideon to the hospital in hopes of revival.
“When I saw it, it was fresh, so I decided that we should rush him to the hospital because I thought he wasn't submerged for long and could be revived. So we went to the Jadokpo Hospital and after a few minutes, the nurses confirmed to us that he was dead... We brought him to the mortuary."
Alevi Agbagba also reflected on the circumstances, noting that the river is a place where people sometimes go to fish and swim.
He also disclosed that no one had ever drowned in the river since he could recall.
