Obuobia Darko-Opoku, the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, recently extended her compassion and support to the families of the sixteen children who tragically lost their lives in a devastating road accident.

This incident occurred on Monday, July 28, along the Juaso-Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway, as the children were returning home from an annual church gathering held by the Saviour Church of Ghana, Obogu branch, in the Asante Akyem South Municipality.

In a poignant act of solidarity, Obuobia Darko-Opoku chose to visit the bereaved families and the church community as part of her birthday celebrations.

Her visit was marked by heartfelt condolences and significant donations valued in the thousands of cedis, which included several bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, and various essential supplies that provided some relief to the grieving families.

During her visit, Obuobia Darko-Opoku shared a powerful message of encouragement, urging the families not to lose their faith in God or the supportive embrace of their church community, even in the face of such an overwhelming tragedy.

"The Bible teaches us that in all things we should give thanks. It doesn’t instruct us to give thanks for only the joyful moments, but in every circumstance," she reminded them solemnly. I understand that this incident will challenge your faith. You may be asking why this happened, especially when these children were returning from serving God. God has His ways and timing, and we may not always understand them."

To reinforce her message of hope, Madam Obuobia opened up about her own personal struggles over the past year.

"Since January, I have encountered various challenges and moments of unrest. Yet, I maintain my daily prayers, asking for God’s strength and guidance. It is solely by His grace that I remain steadfast," she shared.

She encouraged the bereaved families to view this heartbreaking event as a test of their faith, expressing hope that they would be granted the strength needed to endure their profound loss.

"Consider this tragedy a divine test, meant to measure your resilience. I pray that the Lord provides you with the fortitude to bear this immense sorrow," she affirmed.

Her visit, characterised by genuine compassion and generous offerings, left many in attendance feeling comforted as she stood alongside them during their darkest hour.
