How Tariq Lamptey celebrated his brother's birthday

Tariq’s career has already seen him rise to the Premier League stage, making his breakthrough at Chelsea before cementing his place at Brighton and Hove Albion.

More details on Rafiq Lamptey

Rafiq, meanwhile, is still carving his own path. The 19-year-old midfielder joined Millwall’s Under-21 side in 2024 after gaining experience at Brentford and Watford’s academies.

He also spent time with Harrow Borough Under-18s, building his foundation step by step.

Speaking about his move to Millwall, the young midfielder could not hide his excitement.

“I’m really excited to get the move done. It’s been a long time coming,” he told the club’s media team.
“They’re a great group, watching them from afar over the last few seasons has obviously made me want to be a part of the success.
“The pathway to the first team is clearly there – as a kid you always dream of playing first-team football, and hopefully, if I keep working hard, I will be able to impress.”

Although naturally a central midfielder, Rafiq’s versatility allows him to fill in defensively when needed, making him a valuable addition to Millwall’s youth setup.

Tariq’s continuous battles with injuries

While his younger brother begins a new chapter, Tariq, who starred in a promo for Marvel earlier this year, is currently sidelined with an ankle injury.

The setback has prevented him from featuring in Brighton’s first two league games of the 2025-26 season as well as Ghana's last two 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Without their energetic full-back, the Seagulls have endured a shaky start. They let slip a late lead against Fulham in their opener before falling 2-0 to

Everton, leaving them with only one point from two matches. Fabian Hürzeler’s side now sits 18th in the table, with work to do in the weeks ahead.

Despite being unavailable due to injury, he has appeared on the transfer radar of Italian top-flight club Fiorentina, according to Yard Barker.
