In a post shared on Thursday, August 28, the renowned artist explained that the plane is no longer government property.

He revealed that he bought it from Antrak Air almost three years ago with the intention of turning it into something extraordinary.

“I bought this plane from Antrak Air almost 3 years ago and rebranded it back to Ghana Airways as it is today. The whole point was to transform it into a moving museum across the country, so look out for that soon. Thanks to Sulley Muntari, his cleaning company helped us wash it,” Mahama wrote on X.

For Mahama, this is more than just an artistic project. He explained that his decision to restore the aircraft is deeply personal.

“It is Ghana Airways. It was sold to Antrak Air after the airline collapsed. My idea was to revive the memory of it, which is why I rebranded it into its original form. My mom took this plane to Mecca in 1988. So many memories are tied to this aircraft,” he shared.
